Monday morning thoughts on writing and motherhood
When I first started to write, it was a need to support my journey through deep grief after my dad died. Then during the pandemic while pregnant, writing became a source of strength and comfort as I navigated pregnancy. I felt very lonely but writing gave me a stronger sense of connection to a universal community of mothers - of a shared longing, uncertainty and hope.
And now, this is why I write; motherhood. It's a deep sea of love, wonder, and creativity. Frustration, fear, and exhaustion also swim here.
So here she is. My daughter. On a Saturday evening at golden hour. Wearing clunky rainboots, backwards pants, and a hand-me-down unicorn sun hat. Always with our good dog by her side. These truly are the good ole days.
